Pennine Championships Criteria & Awards


1. Pennine Championship. Runners ranked on their best six scores out of 18, regardless of length. Races to be chosen so that it is possible to succeed in the Championship at any length.
Awards: Male and Female runners - up to three (1st, 2nd, 3rd) in the championship, plus 1st in each 10-year age category - these 10-year categories are such that the committee decide are needed based on competition.

2. Grand Slam. Runners ranked on the sum total of all the scores from all the championship races completed within the year.
Awards: One award each for the highest scoring Male and Female runners.

3. Long Sub-championship. Runners ranked on their best three scores from long races.
Awards: One award each for best Male and best Female in this category who haven't already received an award in the Pennine Championship.

4. Medium Sub-championship. Runners ranked on their best three scores from medium races.
Awards: One award each for best Male and best Female in this category who haven't already received an award in the Pennine Championship, or the Long Subchampionship.

5. Short Sub-championship. Runners ranked on their best three scores from short races.
Awards: One award each for best Male and best Female in this category who haven't already received an award in the Pennine Championship, or the Long Subchampionship, or the Medium Subchampionship.

6. Other Awards. 6.1 The Daren Holloway Award, for the most improved runner.
6.2 The Spectacles of Shame, for the runner who achieves the most spectacular navigational cock-up, or series thereof, during the specific year.
