British Fell Relay Championship 2014

Relay2014

On an evil, wet afternoon back in April, Alan Barlow and I drove up to Middleton (just South of Sedbergh) to inspect the 2014 British Fell Relay courses. This is a job which we do regularly for the FRA; Alan looks at the highly secret Navigation Course, while I have a trot around the other courses, or, as usually happens, I look at where all three courses go on the map, and run over the big one, taking in the important parts of the two shorter courses. Motivation?

Seems a bit quiet on the blog at the moment and I’ve had this little story in my out tray for a few weeks now, so here’s something to waste a few minutes reading.

Geoff Briggs is a bum

I love the relays. I like the Hodgson, but the FRA relay is my favourite. I’ve done quite a few now. Managed to get in the top ten one year running with Mark Seddon. Mini Trans-Pennine Relay – Thursday 11th July 2013
Overall Results and Report from Dave Jones

It was also a very emotionally charged and poignant day in memory of Daz. His wife Amada and family were also present.

UKA Relays – familiarisation with the Long Mynd

Message from Jill Leventon of Wrekin Orienteers:-

Wrekin Orienteers has organised a Long orienteering event on the Long Mynd on 2nd September (details attached) and has planned a course specifically for those runners who would like to familiarise themselves with the terrain in preparation for the Relays in October.  This will be the same difficulty as the navigation leg in the Relays. The final details can be found on both the Mercia Fellrunners and the Wrekin Orienteers websites.
