Annual Awards

The Club Championship prizes are given out at the Annual Dinner in January, along with a number of other awards: the Daz H Trophy; the Long Distance Trophy; and, two new awards for 2022, the Lakeland Classics Achievement and the English/British Championship Achievement awards.

Daz H Trophy

The Daz H Trophy is given in memory of Pennine runner Darren Holloway, who collapsed and died while competing in the Hodgson Relays in October 2012. Daz was an extremely popular member of the club, who was always keen to support and encourage others. Through hard work and training, he had progressed from being a good Peak District fell runner to placing in the top ten in Lakeland Classics races. This is remembered through the Daz H Trophy which is awarded each year to the most improved runner.

John Williams' Award for Navigational Achievement

Sadly, 2023 saw the untimely death of John Williams. Always happiest with a map and compass in hand, John did a lot to support and encourage others to have a go at navigation events spending a lot of time and effort setting up many different navigational challenges for Pennine, from the mini-score events using tree tag markers to the longer any time events like the Choc-O that he put on over Christmas. As well as doing things for Pennine, John was also a regular volunteer on the FRA Navigation Courses. He loved all things nav-related, regularly taking part in events and mountain marathons. Indeed, he had been due to fly out to Switzerland, to compete in the Swiss Mountain Marathon, just days after he died.

Previous Winners:
2023: Chris Jones for winning his course on the Swiss Mountain Marathon, as well as success in the OMM and British Fell Relays,
and Ellie Johnstone for completing the Rigby Round (18 Cairngorm Munros, solo, onsight and unsupported) inside 24 hours, in mid-August with thick clag for half the time.
2024: Clare Cummings and Chris Barry for finishing second overall on the Kirkfell Class at the Saunders Mountain Marathon
2025: Duncan Steen for winning the Scafell (longest) class at the Saunders Mountain Marathon and finishing 6th overall on the OMM Elite
